| About Us
The Triangle Association of Black Journalists is an association of reporters, editors, photographers and other media professionals working in the Raleigh-Durham, NC metropolitan area. We are a chapte of the National Association of Black Journalists.
We exist to provide: -Support for black journalists and othe media professionals, as well as others whose ambition is to work in the media.
-Networking opportunities for Triangle Association of Black Journalists members.
- Resources for the membes of the black community, to help them understand how the media works an how to deal more effectively with the media.
-Mentoring and guidance for students who aspire to media careers.
-Media monitoring for the Triangle community, to ensure thea issues involving the minority community are covered fairly and accurately.
Committees:
Membership Locating new members, reclaiming former members and retaining current members, and creating programs for this purpose. It also shall be responsible for evaluating all membership applications and affiliate Chapter applications.
Scholarship Implementing and updating scholarship programs to benefit area students attending college and majoring in a media related field.
Media Monitoring Monitoring the national media for discrimination and other injustices to people in the African diaspora in their coverage and employment practices. It shall report to the Board of Directors and the membership issues of concern for consideration.
Constitution and Operating Procedures Considering any proposed amendments to the Constitution and Operating Procedures suggested by any full member. The Committee shall make recommendations on such changes to the membership for consideration according to the guidelines established by the Constitution and Operating Procedures.
Fundraising Implementing and producing events and activities tha increase funds for scholarships and chapter expenses.
